{"id":1397,"date":"2024-02-20T13:16:07","date_gmt":"2024-02-20T13:16:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cumbrae.xthost.co.uk\/busv2\/?p=1397"},"modified":"2024-03-01T15:30:00","modified_gmt":"2024-03-01T15:30:00","slug":"mcgills-expands-partnership-with-flixbus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cumbrae.xthost.co.uk\/busv2\/mcgills-expands-partnership-with-flixbus\/","title":{"rendered":"McGill&#8217;s expands partnership with FlixBus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgillsbuses.co.uk\/\">McGill\u2019s<\/a> is set to significantly increase the scale of its partnership with FlixBus this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Greenock-based business will invest \u00a37.5m into bringing more new long-distance coaches into its fleet in time for this summer.<\/p>\n<p>In total, 19 Flix coaches will come onto the network throughout 2024, bringing its total to more than 40 on the Flix network &#8211; and creating an additional 65 jobs.<\/p>\n<p>Ralph Roberts, chief executive of McGill\u2019s, said: \u201cThis investment is an indication of how important the partnership with FlixBus has been for our growth in the last year.<\/p>\n<p id=\"amp-readmore-target\">\u201cScaling up our partnership together in Scotland and across the border will deliver even more sustainable transport options for passengers as we continue to revolutionise the UK coach market.\u201d<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>Since beginning the partnership in 2021, the FlixBus network has grown steadily, launching a dedicated Scottish network in summer 2022 and growing this fivefold last year.<\/p>\n<p>Andreas Schorling, managing director of FlixBus UK, said: \u201cOur partnership with McGill\u2019s will increase frequencies on our most popular routes in Scotland, connecting seven cities, as well as a new dedicated service between Glasgow and Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur ambitious plans to become the largest and highest quality network in the UK are well underway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1933, McGill&#8217;s has depots in Greenock, Inchinnan, Johnstone, Dundee, Falkirk, Stirling, Livingstone and Balfron, with the company headquarters located in Greenock.<\/p>\n<p>Flix, the German parent company to FlixBus, reported its best-ever financial half-year results in 2023, with more than 50% growth and \u20ac860m in total revenue for the period January to June.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>McGill\u2019s is set to significantly increase the scale of its partnership with FlixBus this year.
